Showcase Background Image & Repeat

This might be the more confusing for some but the theme loads a default green gradient backgroundimage that is 1 x 235 pixels and it repeats it from left to right along the top and will also have a background colour. This lets you set your own background image which can be a gradient or even a pattern. The background colour setting will also be important here because if you put an image or a slideshow into the Showcase area which has a height more than the default background image is, you need the bottom colour of the gradient to appear as though it’s expanding downward. You can have your background repeat left to right like the default one or you can have it repeat side to side from top to bottom, regardless of height.

  1. First thing: Create your image and upload it to your “Zen Theme” image folder. This is important because if you upload it with your Library function in WP, it won’t show up as it needs the theme style sheet to work.
  2. Go to your Zen Theme settings and click on the Showcase Settings panel
  3. Find the Showcase Background Image setting and change the name of the existing file “scgradient.png” with your own image file name (with the extension). I recommend naming yours differently from the default one in case you decide to go back to the original.

  4. Click Save Changes
  5. Next, go to the “Showcase Background Repeat” setting just below the Showcase Background Image and choose if your background will repeat left to right or all over. By default, it’s set to repeat-x which means it will go left to right horizontally) with the other repeating both horizontally and vertically.
